Shiny New Expansion + 'Green' Upgrades
Construction completed this fall on Glenbrook Hospital's Cardiovascular Institute (CVI). NorthShore University HealthSystem selected the Glenbrook Hospital campus for its new Cardiovascular Institute expansion, comprising 165,000 sf of new construction. Features of this new construction include an expanded patient care tower, new surgery suites, and a freshly designed and lushly landscaped exterior to welcome doctors, patients, and visitors.
Project Landscape Design Features:
- Live green rooftop gardens to moderate stormwater volume and provide relief to patients and staff views.
- New walkways to provide clear, accessible, and safe direction through the campus.
- Permeable paver parking lot allows textured surface and water quality management.
- Earthen berms with plantings provide screening to nearby parking.
- Generous canopy tree planting within the parking lots will provide shade and will moderate heat island effect.
- A quiet reflective garden space for visitors and staff.
This 165,000 sf of new construction broke ground in 2022 and was completed in September 2023.
