Hovering atop the 100’ high bluffs overlooking the shores of Lake Michigan demands master plans that are unique as the property they are tailored for...
Teska has had the pleasure of working on two distinct and unique properties located within a mile of each other just south of downtown Port Washington, Wisconsin.
We are teamed in preparing master plans for the 35 acre Prairies Edge Community and on a separate team planning the 72 acre Cedar Vineyard Properties. Collectively, the properties feature over 2.5 miles of Lake Michigan frontage that include the Washington/Ozaukee County Land Trust (OWLT) Cedar Gorge Heights and Clay Banks Natural Preserve lands.
A paved multi-use trail will provide connectivity between the properties, the nature preserve, Lake Michigan beaches and link to downtown Port Washington and the harbor. Internal walking tails will connect the diverse uses and feature naturalistic themed landscape to transition between the bluffs and built environments within each property. Other than sharing phenomenal sunrise views of the lake and horizon, similarities between the two properties each have evolved with their own distinctive identities.
Cedar Vineyard: A master planned open space vineyard and neighborhood featuring a working winery, residences, wetlands, walking trails, bike paths, and migratory bird habitats.
A little further south, sits the master plan for Cedar Vineyard (drone video above) a 131 acre Cedar Heights Gorge and Clay Banks Nature Preserve, that includes 3 /4 mile of lake frontage, wildlife habitats, wetland preserves and interpretive walking trails. Cedar Vineyard is a master planned open space vineyard and residential neighborhood that features a planned working winery, vineyards and 45 single family residences. The City of Port Washington will provide TIF funding for roads, utilities, bike trails and other public improvements using property taxes to pay back funds.
More to follow on each project including site plan approvals, appearance and architectural review and construction phase landscape architectural planning for bid and implementation. We look forward to working with each of the property client to bring these tides of ideas into waves of reality.
Prairie's Edge: A socially engaging sense of community featuring residential cottages, community gardens, health amenities, and unified low maintenance living.
The master plan for Prairies Edge, which is closer to town features a full spectrum mix of uses including residential cottages, townhomes and apartments, offices, health and fitness amenities to promote a socially engaging sense of community. A coordinated architectural theme meets nature, reinforcing master planning that includes a focus on health and fitness, community gardens and unified low maintenance living.
