Project Highlights

• Community engagement, including an early workshop to identify resident concerns and opportunities and a “block party” held towards the end of the process to verify that the plan addressed those concerns.
• A community conditions assessment that involved mapping the corridor, inventorying existing land uses and site conditions, and a review of local history and past studies.
• Key recommendations for land use and development, affordable housing & homeownership, sense of community, infrastructure & mobility, corridor character, and programs & funding opportunities.
• Three development concepts and site plans for key redevelopment sites within the corridor.

The Greenwood Avenue Corridor Plan provides a community assessment and tools to identify the most critical problems as it relates to land use and development, affordable housing & homeownership, sense of community, infrastructure & mobility, and corridor character. It provides a guide to allow the Community Development Corporation to focus its efforts on the community’s most critical problems and provide a necessary guide in developing and prioritizing appropriate projects, programs, and strategies as it relates to next steps and implementation on impact areas of gravest concern.

This plan is designed to both build on the existing assets of the corridor and identify realistic opportunities for economic development to address the needs of the people who live, work, and play within the area.
