Creating a more resilient community by leveraging strategic sites and assets
Lincolnshire, IL
Project Highlights
Prepared detailed plans for seven subareas and five corridors across the Village.
Designed a mixed-use center for the community that maintains office space that is currently operational.
Convened local agencies and development interests to plan for impact of new development.
Outlined investments in natural and multipurpose open space to improve environmental resilience.
Identifying strategic locations for pedestrian infrastructure to complete the Village's extensive trail network.
In the wake of pandemic accelerated market and demographic shifts, Lincolnshire sought a plan to address challenges filling office and retail spaces, attracting new development, and maintaining its high-quality community services. Primary plan recommendations include opportunities to expand dining, entertainment, and recreation activities to transform the Village’s main commercial areas and corridor into a place that makes Lincolnshire “a place you can spend the weekend”. Lincolnshire is and will remain a family-oriented community, although demographic and market research, as well as community outreach indicated a need for different housing types to serve small households and empty-nester that are a part of the Village population. Subarea and corridor plans outlined more detailed planning, investments, and policies for strategic, underutilized, or high-visibility sites in the Village.
