Landscape Architecture and Placemaking
The Village of North Aurora has joined forces with the Fox Valley Park District and North Aurora River District Alliance (NOARDA) to plan for an enhanced Riverfront Park that promotes public placemaking located between the Village Hall and Fox River. The Master Plan is the product of a collaborative process that integrates Village Hall functions, Park District programming, passive recreation and community gathering within the Village’s unique Riverfront setting.
The master plan expands upon the positive landscape characteristics of the project area, including views to the River, mature tree groves, fishing access, historic interpretation and “Water Wonders”, a nature based play area. Features of the plan include gateway and wayfinding signage, interconnected pathways and boardwalks, a defined kayak launch, bike area, overlook areas, interpretive areas, naturalized channel embankments, dry creek bed and expanded “Water Wonders” area, fishing areas, pavilion structure, gathering plazas and seating areas.
