The 2015 Round Lake Comprehensive Plan outlined a framework to enable the Village to maintain and strengthen its community assets, ensure residents and businesses a high quality-of-life, and plan for growth and development in a sensible and sustainable manner. The process involved engaging residents, businesses, property owners, and Village leaders to discuss desired community characteristics and address concerns while planning for the Village’s growth.
The Plan provides an existing conditions report, vision statement, goals and objectives, future land use plan, and an implementation plan to provide the Village with a tool to guide future land use, programs and policies, and development.
Plan elements include goals for Land Use and Development (with a Future Land Use Map), Transportation, Downtown (with a specific subarea study), Economic Development, Community Character, Housing, and Community Buildings, Places and Infrastructure. Each category includes strategies and specific recommendations (partnership, promotion, communication, implementation) that emphasize what kind of action will need to take place to achieve that particular goal.
