Together the Village of Seneca, Seneca Park Board, and Teska prepared a Village-wide park system plan to evaluate recreation needs in the community. The Plan determined that multipurpose park was needed for the community, which led to the creation of Graves Park.
The park, located near downtown, the I&M Canal Trail, historic mill, and residential neighborhoods, includes many active recreation features such as a ½-mile continuous pathway, baseball field, softball field, soccer field, playgrounds, plantings, and signage. Sustainable features of the park include native pollinator landscaping and interpretive signage features.
Teska provided assistance with two successful grant applications for this project. Oslad funding supported park construction for a summer 2018 park opening. A ComEd sponsored Open Lands Grant enhanced the native landscaping at the park, including a significant number of pollinator species.
