Teska Associates was hired by Wicker Park Bucktown (WPB) Special Service Area (SSA) #33 to design their Annual Report. From storyboarding content and drafting text, to creating crisp, creative and content-rich infographics and data visualizations, to taking high-resolution photographs for integration therein – Teska brought the Annual Report from concept to reality, handling print production and mailing. The annual report was delivered to over 3,400 WPB recipients, with an additional 1,000 printed for the SSA to distribute and share. The cover of the annual report, which featured a colorful graphic representation of The Robey Hotel/Northwest Tower, was adapted and designed by Teska to appear on street banners throughout the SSA during the summer/fall festival season.
The Annual Report is a mechanism to demonstrate successes within a graphically-rich brochure. It serves as an opportunity to shine light on the hardwork of the commissioners, chamber, and time and money spent by the SSA. Ultimately, it is about extracting the “value-added”, weaving it into a story, and packaging an engaging print and online product. Teska greatly enjoyed celebrating the work of the SSA through this project.
What is a Special Service Area (SSA)? A SSA is an economic development tool used to make neighborhoods their best-and-brightest self.
How does it work? A supplemental property tax levy is applied to properties within the SSA district; the funds collected and used for beautication and enhancements therein. From street cleaning and snow removal to art installations, transportation improvements and holiday decor – WPB SSA #33 is committed to serving up the everyday essentials, must-needed fundamentals and creative space enhancements that are uniquely WPB. By providing these services year after year, the SSA fosters a vibrant, inviting and safe community for all.
